Where bought? From a friend of a friend who was having a bit of a fire sale. I can't remember his name but he lived around the corner from said pal in about 2006/2007 and he said 'come and knock on my door about 7.30pm' so we did. He only answered the door at about 8.05pm having forgotten about the arrangement and was so deep into a one-man noise jam that he lost track of time.
Hey that cover looks familiar!
Clikatat Ikatowi were first to that, but I can't tell if Sweep the Leg Johnny's using the same photo is a tribute or a pisstake or an accident or what. They're not hugely dissimilar bands in the angular post-hardcore with tense rhythms stakes, so idk what gives here.
I guess the most famous member of CI is Mario Rubalcalba, drummer for Hot Snakes/Rocket from the Crypt/Earthless, and his slightly off-kilter battery drives the band from a City of Caterpillar-style decentness into a level of quality that peaks at the level of 'hot shit my dude'.
It's a 20 minute EP, which is kind of perfect actually in the way that Vaya by At the Drive-In might also be their best release. Too much of this becomes a noise and a self-parody, but just the right amount makes you want to do a kickflip and punch a goose in the throat (in a good way).

The insert from Gravity Records just fell out while I was looking through the sleeve. Antioch Arrow, Heroin, Angel Hair! Pockets of time hidden behind the couch, un-eulogised energy. Postage prices under $7 for international! I try to resist nostalgia (yes I know, this blog, etc.) but christ can we go back a bit in time and try to figure out what went wrong?
If you're short on time then check out 'The Feeding of the Birds' and 'Rise and Shine' for the most potent examples of CI killing it. I thought I'd have gone off this kind of stuff but it turns out I'm going to start a 'zine off the back of listening to it.
